Animal Therapy and Fun
At present we have miniature horses and miniature donkeys available for almost any activity. We also have some parrots available for limited activities. And let's not forget our lap dogs and cats which would be wonderful for hospitals or nursing homes etc. We can also bring our miniature horses and donkeys inside in order to see bedridden patients and residents. We will clean right behind them as we go but typically try to be sure they are empty before arrival. The donkeys and horses that are available for visiting are especially tame and people loving and gentle. Our dogs ( a Maltese , a yorkie and 2 dachshunds ) are very loving and sweet and love to be petted. Our cats have not been out and about yet but we are willing to give them a try. They are very sweet natured with us. We will have "baby" horses and donkeys and possibly mules in spring and summer and fall available for visits as well. Some of our half grown horses are as small as 22 inches.
Our parrots come in a variety of sizes and colors and temperaments. Some you can pet and some I wouldn't trust for that. But all are beautiful to look at. Some are very loud and some are quiet. And most can say at least a few words but usually clam up in strange territory or around new people. I can't force them to talk as parrots definitely have a mind of their own! :-) So if you must have a talking bird we just can not guarantee it.
There is no charge to nursing homes , rest homes , retirement homes or assisted living homes. There is no charge for orphanages , hospitals or churches.
Our rates for all others are $150 per hour with a one hour minimum charge limit. Maximum time for horses and donkeys is 3 hours. Maximum time for Parrots is 2 hours. Parrots are available within a 50 mile radius only, as traveling tends to stress them. Parrots are not available for outside activities in temperatures below 60 degrees. Animals not belonging to us MUST be kept out of sight of our animals for health and safety reasons. Especially dogs. We do not want to risk harm to our animals or your dogs. So we must ask that dogs be confined inside a building or behind a fence where they can not see our horses or donkeys. Miniatures can be killed quickly and easily by large dogs.
Miniature horses and donkeys can be sat upon by children 40 pounds and under. We have 1 miniature driving horse at this time that can pull larger children and adults in a buggy which will be driven by us.
Children must be supervised at all times and not allowed to hit or tease or in any way aggravate our animals. Our animals are friendly and kind but accidents can happen so we must ask that you supervise children at all times. We will not be held responsible for accidents. If we feel an area is not safe for our animals we reserve the right to remove our animals from premises immediately. We ask that children not handle our larger birds as parrots are not domesticated animals and can cause serious damage to fingers and faces.
Birds can be a wonderful addition for tropical themed weddings. But we can not be held responsible if our Macaw decides to scream for a moment in the middle of the ceremony. He isn't much of a screamer but as soon as I promise he wont then he will. He would be more likely to yell out ROBERT BIRD! ha ! ha! But even more likely will be so in awe of the crowd of people that he wouldn't make a sound. It is up to you if you want to take the chance. If he were to yell at least you would have a good giggle on your 25th anniversary about that silly bird! ha ha!
All of the animals would be wonderful for nativity scenes or for Sunday school for a Noah's ark theme. Or even vacation bible school or AWANAS.
We do not offer our animals for parties where alcohol , drugs , fireworks or firearms are used. As far as parades we just ask to know where the fireworks will be so that we will be able to keep our horses away at the time of display especially if we are driving in the buggy.
We do our own cleaning of "horse droppings" at no extra charge to you. We ask that animals not be fed anything other than what we bring to allow feeding with. We reserve the right to refuse services for any places we feel are unsafe for our animals which is completely at our discretion. We can not bring our animals out for parades or any outdoor activities in the heat of the Texas summer. They will get too hot with all the excitement and we couldn't handle the heat either. So please schedule summer activities in the early mornings.
There will be a fifty dollar cancellation fee for paid activities. If canceling the day before or the day of there will be no refund. Bad weather is the exception. In case of storms we will not be able to bring the animals out and will offer a full refund or rescheduling. Email us by clicking the little blue bird below or we can be reached at the phone number listed on our home page. Thanks for stopping by!
